The application of the wellpoint system is mainly based on the practical experience acquired by analogy with a series of construction sites cases . Up to date we have reached major results, suffice to say that only a few years ago the wellpoint system was taken into consideration only for sandy soils, now it is employed also in clay, in gravel, and in soils with several waterproof layers.
In the feasibility studies of construction works in presence of water tables, the drainage with the wellpoint system ranks undoubtedly as the first for suitability, owing to the fact that it is easy to use and, above all, it is cheap . |
